One of the things I enjoy most is getting absorbed in a photography book from my growing collection or reading thoughtful articles from the online photography publications. The focus of this article is on the latter. I currently subscribe to the following photography digital magazines: Elements Photography Magazine, On Landscape, Nature Vision Magazine, LensWork, and ICM Photography Magazine.

My photographic approach is focused on seeking the experience of discovery.  I learned about this approach from Guy Tal and William Neill, both of whom I consider masters.  What does the experience of discovery mean and how does it relate to Intentional Camera Movement (ICM) photography?

So aside from being busy with dad life, what I have been up to from a photography standpoint at this mid-point in the year 2022? Well, I have kept myself busy writing, reading, and more. Although I have taken a break from making images, photography is still a daily part of my life.

In this article I want to walk you through my process for how I created this image titled “Eternal Hanami” using multiple exposures.

During Spring Break in 2021 after a long year in 2020, my family and I were eager to hit the road for a proper family road trip. Our first stop after arriving in Moab, Utah was to check out Arches National Park. The views here exceeded my expectations.

Intentional Camera Movement is a photography technique using long exposure and camera movement to create an image with an abstract and minimalist quality. The results can be deeply personal and creative since the camera movements are difficult to duplicate from one image to another.

I remember how excited I was when I booked my flight and hotel to visit Death Valley with a group of friends in 2019. It was my first photography trip there.
